OVER 40 WORLD AIR CHIEFS SET TO ATTEND 2017 AIR POWER CONFERENCE
More than 40 heads of air arms from throughout the world will be attending the 2017 Air Power Conference, scheduled for London on July 12-13.
The high ranking attendees will hear a wide range of leading speakers from Government, the military, industry and academia who will address the theme of 21st Century Partnerships over the two days of the annual event.
Confirmed presenters include UK Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt Hon Sir Michael Fallon MP, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier, and leading overseas military personnel.
Other leading expert UK military speakers include Air Vice-Marshal Steve Shell, Chief of Staff Operations (Air), who will focus on partnerships in the future operating environment; Lt General (Ret’d) Sir Graeme Lamb, former Director of the United Kingdom’s Special Forces (UKSF), who will look at opportunities and challenges for novel partnerships in the operational space; Air Vice Marshal Rocky Rochelle, RAF Chief of Staff Capability talking about the next generation air force, and Assistant Chief of the Air Staff Air Vice Marshal Mike Wigston.
A view of partnerships during humanitarian crises will be presented by Paul Castella. Head of Mission for the UK and Ireland part of the International Committee of the Red Cross, while an academic view point will be offered by speakers including Professor Malcolm Chalmers, Deputy Director General of the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI); Edward Lucas, from The Economist, and author Professor Dr Julian Lindley-French, who is Vice President of the Atlantic Treaty Association, Brussels.
Industry will look at partnerships from the angles of challenges in both procurement and operational support with BAE Systems, Leonardo and Northrop Grumman all presenting their perspectives.
Besides speaker presentations, there will be a series of panel discussions and Q and A sessions that will explore the theme from several different angles.
This year’s event is being delivered by the Air Power Association (APA) and President Air Marshal (Ret’d) Greg Bagwell explained: “We are delighted that so many leading representatives from air forces around the world will be attending.
