Description

UK Space Power Conference: Secure in Space, Prosperous at Home

Becoming a Competitive Space Power

UK Space Command and Freeman Institute

Be at the heart of the UK’s space future — exclusively with UK Space Command.

Join senior decision-makers, military leaders, and industry innovators at the inaugural UK Space Power Conference 2026 — the only conference owned and delivered by UK Space Command, giving you unrivalled access to the people shaping Britain’s space ambitions.

This new conference is led by UK Space Command in partnership with the Freeman Air & Space Institute and draws speakers from the National Armaments Director Group, UK military commands, UK Space Agency, and leading cross-government and industry partners.

With six keynote speakers over two days, including a senior UK minister and Commander of UK Space Command, core themes and sessions will cover topics of ‘Strategy and Reform’, ‘Operations and International Collaboration’, the ‘Future Defence Space Portfolio’, ‘One Space’ and ‘Space and the City’.

  • Day one offers a rare inside view of space activity across the Ministry of Defence. You’ll hear first-hand updates on defence reform, current operations, international partnerships, and the future Defence Space Portfolio — outlining how the UK will become a globally competitive space power, working hand-in-hand with industry.
  • Day two broadens the lens to a cross-government perspective, exploring how the themes from day one can translate into action. Expect exclusive insights into ‘One Space’ collaboration initiatives and new governance frameworks that are redefining how government works together in space.
  • A special ‘Space and the City’ session will address the City of London’s growing dependence on resilient space-enabled infrastructure. Modern financial markets rely heavily on Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) services derived from GPS and other satellite systems to timestamp high-frequency trading, synchronise banking networks and support global communications. The loss or degradation of these signals — whether through cyber-attack, jamming or geopolitical disruption — could have severe consequences for market stability, transaction integrity and economic resilience. The discussion will explore why space security should increasingly be viewed not simply as a Defence issue, but as a foundational requirement for the UK’s financial system and broader national prosperity. Panellists will examine the cultural, regulatory and structural disconnects between military space operators, emerging technology companies, government stakeholders and institutional investors. Discussion will also focus on risk appetite, ESG constraints, long-term procurement uncertainty and the absence of a coherent investment narrative for Defence innovation. The session will ask what must change to unlock meaningful collaboration, attract patient capital and ensure the UK can finance the strategic technologies essential to national security, resilience and economic growth.

Across both days, the conference showcases bold, innovative, and disruptive thinking from across the space sector — while creating a unique environment for meaningful dialogue between government, industry, financial institutions and the investor community, international partners, and academia.

Timed alongside landmark developments in the Strategic Defence Review, Defence Reform, and the Defence Investment Plan, this conference places you right at the centre of pivotal national decisions.

This isn’t just another space conference. It’s your opportunity to engage directly with the architects of UK space power — at an event only UK Space Command can deliver.

The UK Space Power Conference will be held at the Institution of Engineering & Technology, Savoy Place, London on 23 & 24 September 2026. It will feature conference, exhibition and networking with a reception in the evening.

Virtual attendees will be able to access the conference via a dedicated link to the livestream.
